The last post - Reflection about language

Hello bloggers! this is finally the last post of the year. And today I'm going to talk about some reflection about english language and how I feel about my performance English. I always did well in the course of English at school, I think it was because when I was a child, I played many games that were in English, so I had to learn to play it well. I remember many times I had to translate text with my brother to see what we had to do in the game. We also did that when we played cards. Learn English in these days is a necessity. I think it is a good initiative to have English classes in college. It's a great tool to communicate with the rest of the world, but i think it would be fairer to learn some local language here in Chile before learning English. I think it would be good for our culture that in schools and universities  Mapudungún were taught to students, the language of the Mapuche's people. Always it thinks that English is more important. I personally think that is more important preserve the culture of a people. Anyway today is too important to learn English because is the universal language, but I think that English teaching in the university should be specific as what you're studying. For example to us it should be an English theatrical character. I don't have any problem reading or listening or even writing in English, the problem appears when I have to speak in public. Speaking English has always been the hardest for me. I think practice is the best way to learn a new language. Perhaps this course it lacks more speaking practice. This is all for today and for the year, hope you have a nice holiday weekend! bye.

But I think it would be fairer to learn some local language here in Chile.

Some reflections

Hello!!! How are you this week??? I'm very fine, today I'm going to talk about what I think about this year... wow this year has been really crazy. a lot of things happened. I remember in the same date last year, me and my boyfriend were on the beach in northern Chile, and now I'm sitting really early morning writing in this blog for finally end this long and weird year. I remember that in January this year I was in Santiago, working on two plays. I think being in Santiago in summer is the worst thing ever. But it was kind of fun. I made some money to travel the month of February. February was one of the best months of the year, because that month I went on a trip to Bolivia, and it was the best experience to me until now. And then everything happened so fast, I return to Santiago in March and since then I have been trying to pass the University classes.  I don't remember exactly but probably at final of April of this year we went take over University and to me "takes over" are always very intense and surreal experiences. This year amazing things happened in that take over, we were all the time creating things, we were experiencing new things and trying to change which they never liked them. I know that no one will read this, but if someone reads it need to know that education here in Chile IS BAD, and that should change now. Being on a take over, it teaches you that many beautiful things. After that came the winter, and always hits me harder. I remember seeing many series and in truth I do not really think it was hard to me pass the classes in the first half of year. And again all happened very fast . Until now. We are a few days of christmas, and for it to end quickly this year. I am sure that it will... this is all for today, have a nice week, bye!!!

summer vacations

Hello bloggers!!!, how are you??? today I'm going to talk about what I plan to do in my summer vacation. So first of all I wanna tell you when I have my vacations. We are suppose to go out of class always in December, but this years it was different, because we have a very big mobilization during this year. So my vacations start in February, not in December. We will have classes all the month of January... very sad, but it's my last year so I do not care much. Knowing that I was going out late University, I plan my vacations with time. So I bought the plane tickets a couple of month ago. My plan is travel to Arica, and then go on a trip with my boyfriend to the north. The last summer we went to Bolivia, so this year we want to come back, to visit all that last year we fail to do. Bolivia is a beautiful country and very cheap. So if we go back we know exactly where to go. Last year we went by bus, and was a bit awful, that is why this year will go by plane. After going to Bolivia, the idea is to go to Perú. We really want to go to Machupichu, before it closes forever. Machupichu is one of the most beautiful human wonder of planet, and being there should be a great adventure. That is why we want to go to Perú. That's is all for today, see you next week! have a nice week.

BOB WILSON

Hello bloggers! today I'm going to talk about an artist, his name is Robert Wilson, better known as Bob Wilson, an American theater stage director and a playwright who has been described by the media as "America's - or even the world's - foremost avant-garde 'theater artist'". Wilson was born in Waco, Texas. The son of Loree Velma and D.M. Wilson, a lawyer. He studies business administration at the University of Texas from 1959 to 1962. He moved to Brooklyn in 1963 and later he studied painting and architecture.

Bob Wilson found himself drawn to the work of pioneering choreographers. In 1968, he founded an experimental performance company the Byrd Hoffman School of Byrds. With this company, he created his first major works. He began to work in opera in the early 1970s, creating Einstein on the Beach with the famous composer Philip Glass. Wilson is known for pushing the boundaries of theatre. His works are noted for their austere style, very slow movement, and often extreme escale in space or in time. The Life and Times of Joseph Stalin was a 12-hour performance.

Language is one of the most important elements of theatre and Bob Wilson feels at home with commanding it in many different ways. Wilson's impact on this part of theatre alone is immense. No ones has dramatized the crisis of language with as much ferocious genius as Robert Wilson. Wilson shows the importance of language through all of his works and in many varying fashions. Wilson considers language and words not only changes with person, also changes with culture. The lack of language becomes essential to Wilson's work. In the same way an artist uses positive and negative space, Wilson uses noise and silence. Wilson inadvertently describes his necessity of silence: "The way actors are trained here is wrong. All they think about is interpreting a text. They worry about how to speak words and know nothing about their bodies. You see that by the way they walk. They don't understand the weight of a gesture in space. A good actor can command an audience by moving one finger".

Movement is another key element in Wilson's work. As a dancer he sees the importance of the way and actor moves onstage and knows the weight their movement bears. "I do movement before we work on the text. Later we'll put text and movement together. I do movement first to make sure it's strong enough to stand on its own to feet without words. The movement must have a rythm and structure of its own."

I love him because the way he think the space. He always think the visual first of everything. He believes that the most important part of theatre is light. He is concerned with how images are defined onstage. A set for Wilson is a canvas for the light to hit like paint. He is recognized by some as "the greatest light artist of our time". I think is a big influencie on Chilean theater designers and a big reference for students like us. Is a interesting way to think out side of the box.

HOW GREEN ARE YOU?

Hi everyone! Today I'm going to talk about how green I am. Do you know what it means to be green? If you don't know what it means to be green, being "green" means not only considering the possible impact of our actions on the planet. But also means choosing to act in a way that leaves the smallest footprint. If you are asking yourself where do people learn about enviromentally friendly practices? I think that today it is through the use of internet. On the internet there is much information about it and if you use it correctly you can learn a lot. For example in my apartment there is a recycling closet, where I throw my trash depending on whether it is plastic, glass or paper. And now I use a bicycle to get around Santiago. Is easier and I don't spend any money on transport. And it also helps my health! If I am careful with the way I act in the environment, I do not think I need to join a group. I think it's everyone's responsibility to bring about change through our behavior. It depends on you. But that does not mean that you can't talk to the people in your surroundings and tell your experience. I think those are the things I do to reduce my carbon footprint. On the one hand recycle and use the bike, and on the other hand, talk to the people you know. Gabriela Mistral says that humanity apparently lacks humanity. To stop thinking so much of ourselves and start thinking about what surrounds us.
I think Santiago is one of the most unequal cities in the world, I hope you do not expect the city to change, the change depends on you.

Also... don't take too many showers!

bye!

Experiences with Food

Hello bloggers, today I'm going to talk about the best and the worst meal I've ever eaten. The best meal that I ever had was not really a meal, it was a fruit. I was backpacking in Perú on the summer of the year 2011. On the road to Machu Pichu I was in the middle of the Inka Jungle -that's the name of the tour I toke- tired and in a lot of pain -I broke my shoulder on a bike accident the day before- when we made a stop for a rest in a small Quechua house, and old woman gave me a fresh and smelly maracuya with a little hole, I toke a big zip from it: it was the most powerfull flavor that I've ever taste!!... And the worst meal ever I guess it was a long time ago, when my brother was still a little baby. We where at the dinner room in my old house, my sister was on the table on a little blue baby sit. That day my mom made a roast beef with baked potatoes and onions, she spend almost 3 hours cooking that Sunday. I was finishing my asparagus when my mother put the casserole on the table, in that moment my baby sister throw up a huge amount of milk on all the place... the delivery pizza was very boring compare to the roast beef.

The best concert I've ever been to

Hello bloggers! how are you???? I'm very excited today because I'm going to talk of the best concert I've ever been in my whole life, and it was when I saw Björk, for the second time, yes the second was much better than first. It was in the 2012, in the Lollapalooza. for everyone that doesn't know what is Lollapalooza, Lollapalooza is an anual music festival created by Jane's adiction singer Perry Farrel in 1991, the year I was born. Lollapalooza started in Chile in 2011 and it has been every year since then. I remember that I went alone, and I had the ticket for the two days, but I even care that, because all I wanted was see Björk, nothing more than that. In the 2007 I saw Björk for the first time, but I was a child and I went with my older brother, and I was so far from Björk that it was not the best experience, also Björk was a little angry and the show was not very good. But the show in Lollapalooza was awesome, it was so exciting because I was so close of her. She played songs from the first album, seriously I could die after seeing her. It was the best concert I've ever been to.
